Düsseldorf is an art city. Joseph Beuys, Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Tony Cragg: all of them worked here or nearby. The most important houses are within walking distance of Adersstraße.

A suggested day

  • 9.30 — K20 on Grabbeplatz (10 minutes on foot). Klee, Kandinsky, Picasso. Entry €12.
  • 12.00 — lunch in the K20 café or at Pong, a brewhouse with an eye for art.
  • 13.30 — K21 in the Ständehaus (5 minutes by tram). Contemporary art from 1980 to today.
  • 16.00 — the NRW-Forum at the Ehrenhof (10 minutes on foot). Photography, pop, fashion.
  • 18.00 — Schmela Haus (5 minutes). Architecture and Aldo Rossi.
  • 19.30 — dinner in the Old Town.
