Vivian van Schagen, Amsterdam
Vivian van Schagen is a Dutch interior designer from Amsterdam who has shaped a series of hotels, restaurants and apartments across the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. At The Fritz she is responsible for the entire interior architecture and for the 21 house patterns that recur on fabrics, walls, wallpapers and packaging.
"We did not want a hotel that looks like a hotel," Vivian says. "We wanted a house you actually live in — temporarily, but genuinely." That attitude shows in the details: colour-block stairwells, marble bathrooms with polished gold fittings, designer pendant lamps.
